ANC COMMENDS THE EFFORTS OF OUR LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES

The African National Congress (ANC) commends our law enforcement agencies for their swift and effective action in recovering stolen copper valued at approximately R20 million at a scrapyard at Martin Drive, Queensburgh, Ethekwini Municipality, on Wednesday, 4 September 2024. This significant achievement is a testament to the commitment of our men and women in uniform, who work tirelessly to combat the scourge of crime that continues to undermine our country’s economy.

We condemn the ongoing criminal activities that are sabotaging critical infrastructure and economic development.

The theft and illegal sale of copper not only hampers essential services but also jeopardizes the livelihoods of millions of South Africans by impeding progress in key sectors such as energy, transport, and communications.

We remain steadfast in our resolve to support all measures aimed at eradicating criminal networks that threaten the growth and stability of our nation. We further urge all South Africans to remain vigilant and to work closely with law enforcement agencies to root out these destructive elements from our communities. Together, we can build a safe and thriving South Africa where the rule of law prevails, and economic opportunities are expanded for all.
