ANC MOURNS THE PASSING OF KHAYALETHU MAGADLA
- 3 July 2022
The African National Congress (ANC) has conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the family of six year-old Khayalethu Magadla, whose lifeless body was found on Saturday afternoon following an intensive three-week search.
The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the ANC received the sad news while in session. The Soweto boy fell into a manhole three weeks ago while playing with friends.
While the ANC is saddened by the news of his tragic death, we hope that the nation is relieved that the family will find closure.
No family deserves the pain and ordeal that the Magadla family went through. The past three weeks must have been emotionally draining and traumatic for them and everyone involved in the search operation.
The ANC commends the rescue and recovery team for working round the clock to find Khayalethu. We thank the City of Johannesburg Emergency Services, Ambulance Services from Gauteng province, the South African Police Services, Joburg Water and others for their dedication and focus throughout this difficult and challenging operation.
The ANC wishes the Magadla family strength during this painful time. We hope the outpouring of love and support from all corners of our country will give them comfort as they try to come to terms with this tragic episode.
May Khayalethu’s innocent soul find eternal peace.
END
ISSUED BY THE AFRICAN NATIONAL CONGRESS
