ANC STATEMENT ON THE PASSING OF STALWART CDE RICHARD DOMINGO

The ANC extends its deepest condolences on the passing of Cde Richard Domingo, a stalwart of the movement from the early sixties (1960’s).

Cde Richard, also known to family and friends as Dickie, was born on 7 December 1939 into a family widely known in the local Durban community. Totally committed to the ANC, he and his family went into exile in Zambia in the late 1960’s. While in Zambia, Dickie worked in the Livingstone area on the uMkhonto we Sizwe (MK).

After leaving Zambia, Dickie brought his family to Toronto, Canada. Immediately upon arriving in Toronto, Dickie sought out the Chief Representative of the ANC in Canada, and indicated his willingness to work in the Toronto unit of the ANC. He held a number of positions, including as a Treasurer of the unit, instituting financial discipline on all members.

Dickie was a mentor to all the younger ANC comrades. He brought with him immense knowledge of the ANC and its values and traditions. Dickie always ensured that whatever was done in the unit, was done with the best interest of the oppressed people of South Africa.

Dickie treasured his family and his movement. And in turn, all comrades working with him looked up to this wonderfully talented, compassionate and principled comrade.

The ANC extends its heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and all who were touched by his remarkable life and work. May they find comfort and solace in the knowledge that the people of South Africa share in their grief.

Hamba Kahle Comrade Dickie.

Amandla!!!
