THE ANC ANNOUNCES THE NATIONAL DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE OUTCOME: CDE MATLAKALA NONDZABA

The National Disciplinary Committee (NDC) of the African National Congress (ANC) has concluded the proceedings involving Comrade Matlakala Nondzaba, a member from the North West Province and former Executive Mayor of the Bojanala Platinum District Municipality. Comrade Nondzaba was found guilty by the Provincial Disciplinary Committee (PDC) on several counts of misconduct, including failure to comply with ANC directives, bringing the organisation into disrepute, undermining the authority of the Provincial Executive Committee (PEC), and breaching her oath of membership. The PDC initially imposed a 12-year suspension from the ANC.

Following an application for review, the NDC dismissed Comrade Nondzaba’s procedural objections and upheld the finding of guilt. However, the NDC noted mitigating factors, including her status as a first offender, long-standing membership, health condition, and expressed commitment to the organisation. While rejecting the ANC’s call for expulsion, the NDC found the 12-year suspension disproportionate to the circumstances and reduced the sanction to a 5-year suspension.

The ANC reaffirms its commitment to organisational discipline, accountability, and the renewal of its structures. All public representatives are expected to respect the movement’s decisions and act in the best interest of service delivery and good governance. The organisation will continue to strengthen ethical leadership and uphold the values of our movement.
