ANC HOLDS NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING AND NATIONAL LEKGOTLA

The African National Congress (ANC) will hold its ordinary National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting and NEC Lekgotla from 1 – 6 August 2024. This is the first ordinary meeting of the NEC since the elections. Accordingly, it will reflect deeply on the election outcomes, the state of the organisation, and its programme going forward.

The NEC will be followed by an NEC Lekgotla that includes representatives from provinces and cadres deployed as Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Premiers, and Executive Mayors. Its core task will be to elaborate a policy programme for the ANC in government, arising out of the six priorities of the ANC Manifesto and decisions of the National Executive Committee.

The objective of the NEC Lekgotla is to consolidate and refine action plans based on the six priorities of our 2024 Elections Manifesto. The six priorities seek to drive inclusive growth and job creation, reduce poverty and tackle the high cost of living; as well as to build a capable, ethical and developmental state.

Overall, the NEC meeting and NEC Lekgotla will provide comprehensive action plans to address the issues to be discussed. There will be clear directives to structures of the organisation and government departments on a strengthened strategy to improving service delivery and governance, as well as enhanced strategies for economic growth and social development.

Accredited media representatives will have access to certain sessions of the meetings. Media briefings will also be held throughout the six day period to provide updates.
