ANC STATEMENT ON PRESIDENT CYRIL RAMAPHOSA RESUMING DUTIES AFTER ENDING COVID 19 SELF ISOLATION
- 20 December 2021
The African National Congress wishes President Cyril Ramaphosa well as he resumes his duties in government and in the movement after ending COVID 19 self isolation.
President Ramaphosa’s courage and resolve in beating the pandemic should serve as an inspiration to all of us that testing positive to the pandemic is not a death sentence, for as long as we follow all health guidelines and protocols.
We reiterate our call to all South Africans to continue defending each other and protecting one another against this global disaster. We urge South Africans to show compassion and solidarity by offering support to all families who have lost their loved ones due to COVID 19. We also wish those who are infected a speedy recovery.
We also call on all South Africans once again to comply with government regulations and measures which are intended to save lives. These includes supporting mass vaccination drive by the government, which will enable the country to achieve herd immunity and ultimately safe-guard livelihoods. We must continue to wear our face masks, practice good hygiene, observe social distancing and limit our movements in line with the regulations.
Scientific evidence available before us as a country indicates that embracing these measures will go a long way in ensuring that the Covid-19 pandemic and its rippling effects on the economy becomes a thing of the past.
