The African National Congress (ANC) has noted with dismay, the ongoing divisive, opportunistic and anti-ANC behaviour by Carl Niehaus. The latest is his personal statement purported to be made on behalf of ANC staff announcing that he would be laying criminal charges regarding the salary matter.

The African National Congress (ANC) is concerned about a poster circulating on social media platforms seeking to undermine the legitimacy and independence of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC).

The African National Congress rejects outright the contemptuous insinuations by Helen Zille that the ANC’s decision to withdraw its application to the Electoral Court for reopening of candidate registration was based on “leaks” from the Constitutional Court.

On 26 August 2021 the African National Congress indicated that it would lodge an application with the Electoral Court requesting it to order the Independent Electoral Commission to amend the electoral time table and reopen the opportunity to register candidates in terms of Section 11(2)(a) of the Local Government: Municipal Electoral Act.

The ANC urges all its members and supporters to go out in their numbers and vote for ANC candidates.

The African National Congress will today, 25th of January 2021, hold a virtual memorial service in honour of its National Executive Committee member and minister in the Presidency Comrade Jackson Mthembu. Comrade Jackson passed away on Thursday, 21 January 2021, following Covid-19 related complications and was laid to rest on Sunday the 24 of January 2021 as per national lockdown regulations.

Earlier today, we bid farewell to one of our most beloved NEC members, Cde Jackson Mthembu. Yesterday, we heard with deep sadness of the passing of Jonas Gwanga, a revolutionary cultural icon. As we mourn their passing, we remember all those within our movement and society who have lost their lives.

The ANC learned with shock of the passing of its National Executive Committee (NEC) member and Minister in the Presidency, comrade Jackson “Mvelase” Mthembu, after a battle with Covid 19.
Born 5 June 1958 in Witbank (now Emalahleni, Mpumalanga), Cde Jackson (62) mostly referred to in his clan name “Mvelase” has dedicated his entire life to the struggle for a better South Africa and world.

He passed away this morning, Saturday 16 January 2021, at the age of 72. Phillips passing leaves a huge void in the performing arts industry as a whole.
