ANC TO CONVENE 2021 LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS MANIFESTO REVIEW MEDIA BRIEFINGS
- 11 August 2026
The African National Congress (ANC) will convene a series of Manifesto Review Media Briefings as part of its preparations for the 2026 Local Government Elections. Led by the relevant National Executive Committee Subcommittees, the briefings will provide an honest and evidence-based assessment of the implementation of the ANC’s 2021 Local Government Elections Manifesto. The review assessed progress against 102 commitments across key areas of local government.
These engagements provide the ANC with an important opportunity to account for its governance record, reflect critically on the experience of the past five years, and demonstrate how lessons arising from implementation are shaping a stronger, more focused and implementation-driven Manifesto for the next local government term. Each briefing will:
- Present an assessment of progress against the 2021 Manifesto commitments within the respective Subcommittee’s area of responsibility;
- Highlight key achievements, implementation challenges and lessons emerging from the review process; and
- Outline strategic priorities and policy proposals that will inform the ANC’s 2026 Local Government Elections Manifesto.
The first media briefing details are as follows:
1. Local Government Interventions
Date: Wednesday, 12 August 2026
Time: 13h00
Venue: Chief Albert Luthuli House, 54 Pixley Seme Street, Johannesburg
Members of the media are alerted that subsequent media briefings’ details will be communicated.
