AFRICAN NATIONAL CONGRESS MOURNS THE PASSING OF COMRADE MORUTI MAPHATSOE
- 07 November 2025
The African National Congress (ANC) mourns the untimely passing of our beloved Chaplain, Comrade Moruti Maphatsoe, whose life was a profound testament to compassion, service, and unwavering faith in the values of our movement and the liberation struggle.
Comrade Moruti was not only a spiritual pillar of strength within our ranks but also a committed cadre of uMkhonto weSizwe (MK), the people’s army that fought fearlessly for the freedom and dignity of our people. His contribution to the struggle for liberation was anchored in both revolutionary discipline and spiritual conviction, a rare blend that made him a true soldier of the revolution.
Having dedicated his life to the cause of justice and freedom, Cde Moruti continued to serve the movement long after the guns were silenced. He found his purpose in comforting families in their darkest hours, guiding comrades and communities with faith, humility, and grace. With dignity and deep professionalism, he ministered to many, ensuring that those who sacrificed for the liberation of our country were honoured with the respect they deserved.
As we mourn his passing, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and comrades in the broader uMkhonto weSizwe and faith community. His passing leaves a deep void in our spiritual and revolutionary family.
The ANC joins all those who knew and loved him in prayer and reflection, celebrating a life well lived in service of the people. May his family find strength and comfort in knowing that his legacy of faith, courage, and revolutionary service will continue to inspire generations to come. May his soul rest in eternal peace. Alale ngoxolo, uMoruti wethu.
