AFRICAN NATIONAL CONGRESS EXTENDS CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF AMBASSADOR KONJIT SINEGIORGIS

The African National Congress (ANC) extends its deepest condolences to the family, loved ones, and colleagues of Ambassador Konjit Sinegiorgis, as well as to the Government and people of the Ethiopia, following her passing. We join the African Union Commission and the broader African continent in mourning the loss of a distinguished diplomat and committed Pan-Africanist.
Ambassador Sinegiorgis was a trailblazer in African diplomacy, whose pioneering role as one of Ethiopia’s earliest female ambassadors opened doors for generations of women across the continent. Her lifelong dedication to advancing Africa’s collective interests, strengthening multilateral cooperation, and promoting the ideals of unity and solidarity reflects the very essence of Pan-Africanism. She stood as a symbol of excellence, integrity, and service, embodying the values that continue to shape Africa’s diplomatic and developmental trajectory.
The ANC pays tribute to her enduring legacy, which will continue to inspire future generations of African leaders and diplomats to serve with courage, conviction, and a deep commitment to the continent. At this moment of loss, we reaffirm our solidarity with the people of Ethiopia and all who were touched by her remarkable life of service.
