ANC HAILS THE SUCCESSFUL CONCLUSION OF THE HISTORIC G20 SOUTH AFRICA LEADERS’ SUMMIT
- 23 November 2025
The African National Congress extends its congratulations to President Cyril Ramaphosa, the government and the people of South Africa for the successful hosting of the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Johannesburg. This historic gathering, held on African soil for the first time, has showcased our nation’s capacity to lead, convene and facilitate meaningful dialogue among the world’s major leaders and economies.
The ANC applauds the professionalism, discipline and dedication demonstrated across government, social partners and all sectors that contributed to ensuring a seamless and dignified summit. South Africa has, through collective effort, affirmed the spirit of unity, cooperation and national pride that defines our democracy.
The ANC welcomes the adoption of the Leaders’ Declaration, which reflects a united global commitment to transforming the international financial architecture, advancing a just energy transition, strengthening continental value-chains, and accelerating skills, industrialisation and climate action. These commitments are aligned with the aspirations of the Freedo  Charter and the mission of building a more equal and humane society.
They also carry tangible benefits for South Africans; debt relief that expands fiscal space, cleaner and more affordable energy, job creation through green industries and digital expansion, stronger broadband access, improved health resilience and development of our local vaccine production, enhanced food security, and more efficient trade and transport corridors. The key task now is ensuring that these global pledges translate into real delivery for communities across our country.
We further thank all participating nations for their constructive engagement, their commitment to multilateral cooperation and their role in the adoption of a forward-looking Leaders’ Declaration. This outcome reflects a shared determination to address global challenges, promote inclusive development and advance a more peaceful, sustainable and equitable world.
This summit has demonstrated that forces opposed to human progress, ecological justice and global redevelopment will not revail. The unity displayed by world leaders in Johannesburg is a clear rebuttal to those who seek to undermine multilateralism, derail climate action and fracture the bonds of international solidarity. The ANC welcomes the agreements and decisions of this august forum, which reaffirm that collective action remains the most powerful instrument for securing a world free from poverty, inequality and injustice.
The ANC remains confident that the positive outlook shaped in Johannesburg will strengthen global solidarity and deepen the partnerships required to confront the complex issues facing humanity today.
