ANC MOVES FORWARD WITH RECONFIGURATION OF GAUTENG AND KWAZULU-NATAL LEADERSHIP
- 19 February 2025
The African National Congress (ANC) has taken decisive steps to strengthen its structures in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal following the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on 18–19 January 2025. Recognising the challenges faced in these key provinces, the ANC has reconfigured the Provincial Executive Committees (PECs), incorporating the wealth of experienced leaders and veterans to reinforce stability and renewal. This intervention, aligned with the ANC Constitution, is part of a broader strategy to rebuild the movement and prepare for the 2026 Local Government Elections.
As part of this process, the ANC held engagements with the PECs of Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal on Tuesday, 18 February 2025, to communicate the decision of the NEC. The next phase includes direct engagements with regional structures in both provinces, followed by a comprehensive induction of the reconfigured provincial leadership and strategic planning sessions. These efforts will provide a structured framework for renewal, political education, and the implementation of the 2024 ANC Manifesto.
The ANC remains committed to gender parity, youth participation, non-racialism, and the revitalisation of its structures. This reconfiguration marks a substantial step in consolidating the ANC’s presence, reconnecting with communities, and restoring public confidence. The leadership in these provinces will focus on inspiring hope, addressing electoral setbacks, and driving transformation and development in line with the ANC’s renewal agenda.
