ANC WELCOMES THE REAPPOINTMENT OF PROFESSOR PULENG LENKABULA AS VICE-CHANCELLOR OF UNISA

The African National Congress (ANC) congratulates Professor Puleng LenkaBula on her reappointment as Vice-Chancellor of the University of South Africa (Unisa) for a second term, commencing on 1 January 2025.

Her historic leadership as the first woman to hold this role has significantly enhanced Unisa’s institutional stability, teaching, and learning, while advancing its transformation agenda.

The ANC commends Unisa’s Council for recognizing Professor LenkaBula’s achievements and her

commitment to promoting diversity and gender equality in higher education. Her reappointment is a testament to her efforts in aligning the university’s academic programs with the nation’s economic needs, fostering a strong skills base, and addressing historical inequalities in education.

We call on the Unisa community to rally behind Professor LenkaBula in her second term as she continues to position the university as a leader in inclusive and transformative education. The ANC reaffirms its support for higher education as a pillar for building a knowledge-driven economy and an equitable society.
