ANC’S CALL TO PRAYER AND EMBRACING THE SPIRIT OF LENT

As we enter this sacred season of Lent, the African National Congress (ANC) calls on all South Africans to reflect deeply on the power of prayer and the opportunity it provides to reconnect with God.

This is a time for renewal, introspection, and recommitment to the values of faith, unity, and service to one another. Lent is not only a season of personal spiritual growth but also a collective moment for our nation to seek healing, reconciliation, and strength as we navigate the challenges before us. It is a time to extend compassion to the vulnerable, uplift those in need, and work together to build a society rooted in Godly peace.

Reflecting on the significance of the Lenten period, the ANC Chaplain General, Rev Molefi Tsele emphasised that “the word of God has long served as a source of inspiration and guidance, shaping the moral foundation upon which the ANC was formed. As we reflect on our past and look to the future, may His wisdom continue to lead us in building a nation that is united in its diversity in its pursuit for equal prosperity”

Let us embrace this Lenten season with humility and hope, using it as a time to deepen our faith, pray, atone, commit and give generously. Let us strengthen our communities, and rededicate ourselves to the vision of a South Africa and a world that embodies the values of shared humanity.
