Condolences on the Passing of Renowned Artist Mbongeni Ngema

The African National Congress (ANC) expresses profound sorrow and extends heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the late Mbongeni Ngema. A luminary in the arts, Ngema’s passing leaves an indelible void in the cultural tapestry of our nation.

Ngema’s contributions as a playwright, actor, choreographer, composer, and singer, particularly in acclaimed works like Sarafina and Woza Albert, have left an enduring legacy. His artistry, resonating with the struggle against apartheid, reflected the spirit of resistance during pivotal moments in our nation’s history.

We mourn the loss of a patriot who used his creative prowess to amplify the voices of the oppressed.

Ngema’s impact goes beyond the stage and screen; it reverberates in the hearts of those who have been touched by his compelling narratives and powerful performances.

The ANC stands in solidarity with the Ngema family during this difficult time. We share in their grief and offer our support as they navigate through the pain of this untimely loss.

May Mbongeni Ngema rest in eternal peace, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire generations to come.

Lala ngoxolo Madlokovu.
