Media Statement

The African National Congress (ANC) will launch its 2026 Local Government Elections Manifesto, setting out the organisation’s vision, commitments and priorities for the next term of local government.

The Manifesto is the outcome of an extensive consultative process with communities and various sectors of society.

It is informed by a frank assessment of the ANC’s implementation of its 2021 Local Government Elections Manifesto, lessons drawn from its experience in government, and the organisation’s programme to improve local governance and build better communities.

Members of the media are invited to attend and cover the launch. All media representatives intending to attend are required to register through the link provided below:

Registration will close on Wednesday, 19 August 2026. Members of the media are encouraged to register early to allow sufficient time for the processing of accreditation and to facilitate efficient access and logistical arrangements.

Media technical teams are advised that a technical dry run will take place at the launch venue on Monday, 17 August 2026at 11h00. All technical teams intending to provide coverage of the launch are encouraged to attend.
