STATEMENT ON TRAGIC BUS ACCIDENT FOLLOWING YOUTH DAY COMMEMORATION IN KZN

The African National Congress (ANC) has learned with deep sorrow the tragic news of a bus accident that occurred in the early hours of this morning in KwaZulu-Natal, involving members of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) who were returning from a Youth Day rally.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families, friends and comrades of those who have lost their lives in this devastating incident. Our thoughts are also with the leadership and entire membership of the EFF during this painful time of loss.

The ANC further wishes those who have been injured a full and speedy recovery. We urge all South Africans to keep the affected families and survivors in their prayers. This tragedy serves as a sobering reminder of the preciousness of life and the need for continued vigilance around road safety, especially during times of heightened travel following national events.

The ANC stands in solidarity with all those mourning and stand in solidarity with our colleagues in the EFF during this time.
