A distinguished Member of the National Assembly, where she chaired the Portfolio Committee on Small Business Development, and a revered member of the ANC National Executive Committee, her contributions to the movement and the nation were immeasurable.
Prior to her national roles, Comrade Siwela spent nearly three decades as an esteemed teacher and primary school principal in Mpumalanga. Her foray into politics began in 2000 when she assumed the role of ward councillor for the ANC in the Bushbuckridge Local Municipality. Over the years, she ascended through the ranks, becoming a vital force within the ANC.
In the provincial legislature, Comrade Siwela served with distinction, holding various positions, including Member of the Executive Council for Agriculture and Member of the Executive Council for Human Settlements. She further demonstrated her leadership acumen as the Speaker of the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature from March 2018 until May 2019.
