THE ANC MOURNS THE PASSING OF ITS STALWART AND FOUNDING PRESIDENT OF THE BOTSWANA CONGRESS PARTY

The African National Congress (ANC) mourns the passing of a true revolutionary and founding President of the Botswana Congress Party, Comrade Mike Dingake, at the age of 96. His legacy as an internationalist who wholeheartedly embraced the struggle for freedom in South Africa and across the continent will forever be remembered.

Comrade Dingake’s commitment to the cause of liberation was unwavering, despite enduring arrest, torture, and a lengthy imprisonment of 15 years at Robben Island. His resilience in the face of adversity inspired generations of activists and freedom fighters. Even after his deportation to Botswana, Comrade Dingake continued to contribute to the struggle, playing a pivotal role in establishing a base for Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK) and African National Congress (ANC) underground operatives. His dedication to the fight for social justice remained unyielding and unrelenting throughout his life.

Comrade Mike Dingake’s passing is not only a loss to Botswana and South Africa but to the entire African continent. His legacy will continue to inspire all those who strive for a more just and equitable society. Our thoughts and condolences are with his family, comrades, and all those whose lives he touched. May his revolutionary spirit continue to guide us as we carry forward the struggle for freedom and equality.
