The African National Congress (ANC) notes the Independent Electoral Commission’s state of readiness for the forthcoming second leg of Voter Registration Campaign set for the 1st and 2nd August 2026.

The campaign follows the first leg campaign which was a great success, raising the consciousness of the people in deepening democracy and their patriotic duty towards the democratic state, building and strengthening local government as a strategic vehicle to execute its service delivery mandate in line with the imperatives of the Constitution towards the vision of a better life for all.

This campaign is important in the life of our democracy, free, fair and regular elections, and the resilience of the IEC, the will of the people and the legitimacy of the state.

The Voter Registration Campaign comes during the Women’s Month. This presents an opportunity for the voices of young women and the youth to be heard in matters that affect their lives, including their participation as community representatives at local government level This includes the Integrated Development Plans (IDPs) aligned to job creation, SMME and local economic

development, the fight against drugs and substance abuse, the elimination of the scourge of gender based violence, the fight against crime by building and participating in the Community Policing Forums (CPFs) as organs of people’s power, enforcement of by-laws and service delivery-oriented audit outcomes which positively impact on communities.

As outlined by Comrade Fikile Mbalula, the Secretary General of our movement, the organisation is ready for the forthcoming elections set for the 4th November 2026. This includes the mayoral candidate interviews to select the best among our cadres, to provide quality and ethical leadership and to fix local government to drive the vision of a better life for all.

The ANC calls upon all to register on the 1st and 2nd August for eligibility to vote on the 4th November 2026. This is a critical moment as it is the last opportunity to vote and update voter details.
