THE ANC STATEMENT ON THE INTERCEPTION AND DISRUPTION OF A DRUG CARTEL
- 21 October 2025
The African National Congress (ANC) commends the collaboration between the Brazilian and South African authorities in intercepting and disrupting illicit drug cartels between the two countries. This major breakthrough breaks the spine and conduit on the proliferation of drugs to South Africa and other countries.
This partnership strengthens global efforts in the fight against drugs, the Brazilian-South African and BRICS’ commitment towards a drug free environment in line with agreements and protocols to fight drug cartels. This feat will go a long way of ridding society of drugs which account for social maladies, gangs, drug addiction and killings.
This is a positive step towards closing the South African-Brazilian commercial route as a transit hub for drugs destined for the global markets. The crackdown underscores the importance of global cooperation in the fight against transnational drug trafficking.
