ANC DEPUTY PRESIDENT COMRADE DAVID MABUZA TO ADDRESS THE UMKHONTO WESIZWE 60TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

The African National Congress Deputy President, Comrade David Mabuza will tomorrow, Thursday, 16 December 2021, deliver a keynote address at the 60th anniversary commemoration of the establishment of Umkhonto WeSizwe (MK) at the Freedom Park in Tshwane.

uMkhonto we Sizwe (MK) meaning “Spear of the Nation was formed on the 16th of December 1961 in the wake of the Sharpeville massacre as the armed wing of the ANC. Its mission was to fight against the erstwhile repressive and oppressive South African government.

MK officially ceased its operations in 1990 as part of preparations to usher in a fully democratic dispensation in South Africa. Members of the National Executive Committee of the ANC, Leagues and Alliance Partners are also expected to honor the historic gathering.

The 60th Anniversary Commemoration will unfold as follows:

Venue : Freedom Park, Pretoria.
