ANC STATEMENT ON THE PASSING OF FORMER COJ MAYOR MPHO MOERANE

The African National Congress (ANC) received the sad news of the tragic and untimely passing of one of it’s distinguished comrade, Mpho Moerane yesterday late afternoon. At the the time of his passing, Moerane was the leader of the ANC caucus in the City of Johannesburg (COJ).

Moerane had recently served the people of Johannesburg as Mayor before the 2021 elections following the untimely passing of yet another selfless activist Jolidee Matongo.

We dip our revolutionary flag in honoring this gallant leader of our people, who had displayed great humility and compassion in serving all the people of Johannesburg. In his role as a revolutionary, Moerane gave his all towards the full renewal of the ANC in the Region of Johannesburg and was committed to the strengthening of our organisation.

We remain committed to his legacy of serving our people and taking the country forward. To his family, friends and comrades we convey our collective condolences and wish them strength under this dark cloud.

END
