The African National Congress (ANC) will be launching its local government elections manifesto and campaign on the 27th February 2011 at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg. The launch will be addressed by President Zuma, who will outline the key thrust of our elections manifesto. The launch marks the readiness of the ANC as we prepare for the fourth local government elections scheduled to take place this year.
The manifesto launch, will be preceded by the unveiling of the ANC musical album by, President Zuma during a Gala Dinner at the Sun City Super – bowl on Saturday the 26th February 2011. As part of the build up toward the manifesto launch, the ANC has convened a summit with the Tripartite Alliance including Sanco which started yesterday and ends today (24 – 25 February 2011) to ensure a coherent strategy towards the elections. In the Rustenburg area, member of the National Executive Committee of the ANC are actively mobilizing members of the public through a programme of door-to-door visits, walk-abouts, mini ralies and public meetings.
A total of 920 buses will be used to ferry over 50 000 members and supporters of the ANC and its Tripartite Alliance to the launch of our election campaign. An estimated capacity crowd of over 8 000 members, leaders, supporters and leaders of the alliance, business people, traditional leaders, diplomats and the media are expected to grace the occasion of the local government elections album.
The ANC`s 2011 local government election campaign album features amongst others the following: Arthur, Oskido, Professor, Winnie Khumalo, Chommee and Chicco Twala. These artists will also give live performance of the album songs during the launch at the Sun City Suiper-bowl and as well as at the 2011 local government elections manifesto launch this coming Sunday.
During the launch, President Zuma will be hosting Mr. and Mrs. Bartlet from Roodepan in the Northern Cape. This elderly couple will feature prominently with President Zuma in our outdoor election advertisement. We want to reiterate our gratitude to this wonderful couple for allowing us to use their images in our campaign.
