ANC Statement on the outcomes of the National Working Committee

7 June 2021

On, Wednesday, the 19th of May 2021, the ANC will be participating in municipal by-elections across different parts of the country.

The ANC urges all its members and supporters to go out in their numbers and vote for ANC candidates.

The ANC views local government as the coalface of service delivery and a door-step to democracy. Our ward councillor selection process, which is undepinned by community participation, is designed to advance people’s power in action.

The ANC calls on all its members and supporters as well as all those eligible to vote, to go and exercise their democratic right by voting for candidates who will advance the delivery of basic services in local communities.

The call to action is for all our structures and members to mobilise all eligible voters to go out in their numbers to ensure an overwhelming victory and stable local government.

The ANC urges all its volunteers to assist all eligible voters to exercise their right to vote, including those who will be casting their special votes tomorrow, 18 May 2021.

Once again, the ANC calls on all South Africans who will be participating in these by-elections across different parts of the country to adhere to health protocols and to maintain social distancing at different polling stations where voting will be taking place. We must never let our guard down if we are to win the war against COVID-19.
